The 10 Skills
Skill 1 — Understanding Our Brains
Is the foundation for the whole My Brain Buddy program. It does not start with strategies or behaviour change. It starts with understanding what is happening in the brain and nervous system — especially under stress.
Skill 2 — Noticing Stress and Capacity
Explore how stress stacks over time and why capacity can change from one day, or one moment to the next. Learn to notice early signs of overwhelm and use small Reset Moments before dysregulation.
Skill 3 — Knowing What Matters
When everything feels urgent, deciding what matters most can reduce overwhelm and create clarity. This skill helps you consider the moment, the context and the capacity available before choosing what to do next.
Skill 4 — Values Guide Action
Learn how values can provide direction when decisions are difficult and capacity is limited. You will practice finding the 5% version—the smallest, realistic action that still moves toward what matters most.
Skill 5 — Interpersonal Relationships
Explore how the same event can be interpreted differently by two brains, creating reactions and relationship loops that quickly take over. This skill helps you step away from blame, recognise the pattern between people and identify what the relationship needs.
Skill 6 — Co-Regulation and Repair
Discover why regulation comes before reasoning, problem-solving and repair. Learn practical ways to steady the moment, acknowledge impact, clarify intention and reconnect after things go wrong.
Skill 7 — Accurate Decision Making
Stress can make urgency feel like certainty and narrow the options we can see. This skill helps you pause, separate facts from the story around them, widen the lens and make choices that fit the situation and your values.
Skill 8 — Effective Advocacy
Effective advocacy is clear, regulated, values-aligned and proportionate to the issue in front of you. Learn when to adapt, collaborate, advocate or escalate—and how to protect safety, dignity, access, health and identity without fighting every battle.
Skill 9 — Celebrate Differences
Celebrating differences does not mean ignoring challenges or pretending everything is easy. It means understanding different needs without shame, noticing what is working and allowing the brain to register moments of growth, connection and progress.
Skill 10 — Make It Work in Real Life
Bring the skills together in a practical Resilience Plan designed around the needs, patterns and capacity for you. Focus on small, repeatable adjustments that support regulation, repair, advocacy and sustainable change in everyday life.
Before and After
Right now:
Constant overwhelm with no words for why, the same arguments and shutdowns on repeat, research that doesn’t help on a hard day.
After:
You understand what your brain is doing and why, you have tools that work under pressure, and you can advocate calmly.

“Highly recommend support for people and families navigating neuro diversity. I have a medical background and this program clearly fills the gap between medical and psychological interventions. This is a personally run program and have direct access to the creator and facilitator at all times.”
Marco Mark
“Each session I walked away with at least one simple strategy that felt realistic to implement and I did and it’s really helped”

“As a professional working with families I have found this course excellent, informative and useful. It assists with day to day life and love how it gives real life skills.”

Many families access the program through Capacity Building — Improved Daily Living as carer/parent training (support item 15_038_0117_1_3), billed per hour at or under the NDIS Pricing Schedule limit.
You'll need to be self-managed or plan-managed — a registered provider isn't required, and you don't need your plan approved before starting. Ask your plan manager for an invoice, quote or service agreement and I'll provide whatever they need.
Funding isn't guaranteed, so it's worth confirming with your plan manager or support coordinator that the program fits your plan goals and the NDIS reasonable-and-necessary criteria.
