Resilience Skills Training Program

The My Brain Buddy Resilience Skills Training program provides a structured, neuroaffirming foundation.

Resilience Skills Training is delivered in small groups, either online or in person. The small group size allows for connection while maintaining privacy. Sharing is always optional, and you are encouraged to participate at a level that feels right for you.

Across the five-session program, participants:

  • build shared language around brains, bodies, stress, and capacity

  • develop practical, low-demand resilience skills

  • explore co-regulation, emotional safety, and everyday supports

  • identify strengths and protective factors

Each session builds toward a simple, doable Family or Individual Support Plan that can be used at home and adapted over time.

This training forms the starting point for most participants.

Session 1

Understanding Our Brains

Learn how different brains work, especially under stress, and why behaviour often changes when demands are high.

We will learn about the Brain / Body Connection

  • The spectrum of neurodiversity

  • Stress and the nervous system

  • Sensory overload and stacking

  • Window of tolerance + overwhelm cues

  • Reducing blame and confusion

And practice these skills

Session 2

Knowing What Matters

Learn how values shape behaviour and how clarity about what matters most can guide daily decisions.

We will learn about -

• what truely matters

• aligning actions with priorities

And practice these skills in values based decision making -

  • Identifying anchors that fit

  • Responding to turbulence

Session 3

Relationships and Regulation

Learn how relationships shape regulation and how connection supports resilience.

We will learn about -

  • Interpersonal communication

  • Problem solving

  • Emotional safety and the nervous system

  • Repair after rupture

And practice these skills in relationship management

  • Co-regulation strategies

  • Strengthening connection moments

Session 4

Decision Making and Advocacy

Learn how to make accurate decisions under pressure and advocate effectively without burning out.

We will learn about –

  • Accurate decision making under stress

  • Communicating needs clearly

  • Boundaries and sustainability

And practice these skills in Effective Advocacy

  • Structured decision making

  • Planning an advocacy approach

Session 5

Making it Work in Real Life

Learn how to sustain change over time and build a family system that works with your brain, not against it.

We will focus on -

  • Celebrating differences

  • Family connection

  • Values aligned decision making

  • Flexible routines + anchor points

And create a Family Resilience Support Plan that you can keep using after the program is finished.
